LED Wall Art for a Gaming Room: Choosing Art, Placement and Lighting
Build a setup around an image you enjoy in daylight, then give its illuminated details room to stand out after dark.
A gaming room often starts with the desk: a screen, a comfortable chair and somewhere to keep the cables. The wall behind it is a chance to make that space feel more personal. A favourite character, a dramatic scene or an imagined world can give the setup an identity even when every screen is switched off.
LED wall art on canvas adds another possibility. At The Shapie, the printed artwork remains visible during the day, while integrated lighting reveals selected details after dark. The image and the light are designed to work together.
When choosing LED wall art for a gaming room, consider three things together: the composition, the wall space around your equipment and the way the illuminated design sits alongside your other lights.

Start with a scene you want to see every day
Choose the artwork before deciding how brightly it should glow. If this is also your work desk or a shared room, you will spend plenty of time seeing the daytime image.
Look at the main shapes from a little distance. A clear silhouette can remain easy to read above a busy desk; a detailed scene may reward a closer view. Consider whether you want one recognisable character, a group composition or a wider landscape.
The Shapie’s Movies & Gaming collection and Anime collection are useful places to compare those approaches. Open both the day and night views of the designs you like. Notice which details become the focus when the lighting is on, rather than choosing from the brightest thumbnail alone.
Measure the space around the monitor
The available wall is rarely an empty rectangle. Monitor arms, shelves, speakers and the top edge of your screen all affect where a painting can sit.
Before ordering, mark the complete artwork outline on the wall with paper or a temporary method suitable for your surface. Sit in your chair, stand at the doorway and check the arrangement from both positions.
- Above the desk: check that the monitor does not hide the lower part of the image, including when its height is adjusted.
- Beside the desk: a portrait composition can use a narrower section of wall without being squeezed between shelves.
- Behind your chair: check the view from your webcam if the painting will appear in calls or streams.
Choose the largest size that still leaves a comfortable border around the composition and clear space from nearby furniture. Preserve the artwork’s original format: a portrait design should not be stretched into a landscape space.
Remember the external frame when measuring. The Shapie’s listed dimensions describe the canvas; adding an external frame increases the complete width and height by 3 cm each. The artwork size guide explains how to compare the canvas and framed dimensions.
Check reflections from your normal seat
A painting can look well placed from the doorway and still create a distracting reflection on a glossy screen. Check the setup from the chair you actually use.
With the display showing a dark scene, look for reflections from the proposed artwork position and from nearby lamps. If you can try a light in that area before deciding on placement, it may help you spot an awkward angle. Repeat the check with the screen tilted to its usual position.
If a light competes with the screen, try moving it to a side wall, changing the viewing angle or reducing its brightness. Keep practical desk lighting available for reading, writing and other tasks; the painting is a decorative light source.
Give the illuminated artwork a clear role
A keyboard, a PC case, light strips and a canvas can each look appealing on their own. Together, they need a little restraint.
Try choosing one main feature. If the painting is the focal point, keep nearby decorative lights quieter so its outlines and colours remain distinct. If you prefer a bright, colourful desk, the artwork can sit to one side of that arrangement.
Start with the painting at a lower brightness and adjust it while seated. Compare the result with the room’s normal lights on, then with your evening setup. The setting you enjoy in a softly lit room may be different from the one you choose in darkness.
Use the actual night design as your colour reference. The lighting reveals particular parts of each artwork; different designs do not necessarily create the same effect.

Plan charging or a discreet cable route
A rechargeable version can suit a wall where you do not want a power cable visible while the artwork is lit. Its battery is integrated into the painting, and it needs access for periodic charging.
A wired version stays connected to its power supply when illuminated. If there is an outlet near the desk, plan the cable route alongside the rest of your setup before hanging the artwork.
The rechargeable version can also light up while charging. Choose the option around how you will use the room, and keep the charging connection accessible. Read the battery and wired comparison for the current charging guidance and the conditions behind the quoted battery duration.
Check the wall before hanging the painting
A monitor arm or shelf can move into the artwork’s space, so leave room for the equipment you adjust regularly. Make sure the chosen hanging position also allows access to the painting’s controls and power connection.
Use fixings appropriate to the wall material and the artwork’s weight. Follow the supplied instructions and the installation and care guide, rather than assuming the adhesive used for a light strip will support a framed canvas.
A quick checklist before you choose
- I enjoy the daytime composition as much as the night effect.
- I have checked the complete framed dimensions against my wall.
- The screen, monitor arm and shelves leave the image visible.
- I have considered reflections from my usual seat.
- The illuminated design works with the other lights in the room.
- I have a suitable cable route or convenient access for charging.
If the available wall needs a different size or you have a particular scene in mind, discuss a custom LED canvas artwork before ordering. A photo of the wall, its measurements and the desk width make a useful starting point.
