MEET THE ARTIST
Meet Šarūnas, the Light Artist Behind The Shapie
I’m Šarūnas, the artist and engineer behind The Shapie. In my studio in Vilnius, Lithuania, I make LED wall art on canvas, combining the daytime image with carefully placed light that reveals another side after dark.
Handmade in Vilnius, Lithuania · Since 2019

It started with a simple idea.
The Shapie began in 2019 with a question: what if a canvas could reveal something different at night? I wanted to illuminate the details that give an image its character, while keeping the lighting inside the artwork.
That idea brought my interests in art, electronics and making things by hand into one project. I continue to refine the designs and lighting systems in my studio.

MADE BY HAND
Handmade Canvas Art, Built in My Vilnius Studio
I develop the night design, solder the lighting components, assemble the artwork and test it before it leaves the studio. Making each piece myself lets me check the details throughout the process.
The details make the difference.
The aim is to complement the image with light. Selected outlines and shapes become visible after dark, while the canvas remains a complete artwork during the day. Rechargeable and wired options let you choose a setup that suits your space.
INSIDE THE STUDIO
Every detail, made by hand.
A light painting brings together two kinds of work: the artwork you see by day and the lighting that reveals its details at night. In my Vilnius studio, I prepare the canvas, assemble and solder the electronics, and fit the lighting inside the artwork.
The photographs show the actual making process, from working at the bench to checking the illuminated canvas. This hands-on work is how I bring the image and its night effect together.
